
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the evening of October 23, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Luang Prabang, together with representatives from northern Lao provinces, some Vietnamese provinces, the Lao Cultural Center, the Vietnam Business Association in Northern Laos, and the Vietnam Consumer Goods Development Association, jointly held the 2024 Vietnam-Laos Trade Fair in Phongsavan City, Xieng Khouang Province.
The Vietnam-Laos Trade Fair was held to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the traditional day of the Chinese People's Volunteers and Experts Aiding Laos, in response to the 2024 Laos Tourism Year, and to promote the "One Commune, One Product" and "One District, One Product" agricultural products of Vietnam and Laos, contributing to the trade and socio-economic development of northern Lao provinces and the Vietnam-Laos border region.
Consul General Khao Thi Hang Phuc of the Consulate General of Vietnam in Luang Prabang stated that in recent years, ministries, localities, and enterprises of both Vietnam and Laos have actively cooperated and implemented various cooperation agreements, achieving many positive results in trade and other fields, contributing to the economic stability and development of both countries. In the first seven months of 2024, bilateral trade between the two countries reached US$1.1 billion, a 16.7% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
Buangern Humxayaphom, Vice Chairman of the Xieng Khouang Provincial People's Committee, emphasized in his speech at the event that this was not only an opportunity to promote the national, people, and cultural images of Vietnam and Laos, but also an opportunity for the two countries to meet, exchange ideas, share experiences, seek cooperation, investment, technology transfer, joint ventures, joint operations, promote imports and exports, and expand consumer networks for goods and products. The exhibition featured more than 20 booths from various Vietnamese provinces, showcasing handicrafts, fashion, food, furniture, and other products. The booths of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Luang Prabang and the Vietnam Cultural Center in Laos also displayed photos related to the history of Vietnam-Laos relations, photos of Vietnamese volunteer military experts assisting Laos, and Vietnamese tourism publications.
The Vietnam-Laos Trade Fair will continue until October 25. (End)
