Vietnam and Laos strengthen friendship and cooperation between local women's associations

  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the afternoon of August 14th in Dong Hai City, Quang Binh Province, Vietnam, a delegation led by Ms. Ye Thi Minh Gioc, Chairwoman of the Quang Binh Provincial Women's Union, held talks with a delegation from the Khammouane Provincial Women's Union, led by the Chairwoman of the Khammouane Provincial Women's Union, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

  During the talks, both sides introduced their respective local socio-economic development situations, exchanged and shared experiences, best practices, and outstanding achievements in the work of the women's unions and women's movements in their respective provinces; and discussed the role of women in ensuring border security, building a peaceful and friendly border, and strengthening solidarity between the two countries. Both sides also highly praised the implementation results of the cooperation memorandum for 2022-2024 and proposed specific measures to further promote bilateral cooperation in the future.

  Following the talks, the Quang Binh and Khammouane Provincial Women's Unions signed a MOU for 2024-2026, containing several important provisions. Accordingly, both sides will strengthen coordination to promote and educate members of women's federations and the people about the special solidarity and friendship between the two parties, countries, and peoples of Vietnam and Laos, especially the solidarity and friendship between the women's federations of Quang Binh and Khammouane provinces; coordinate publicity and education efforts among border residents and women to strictly abide by the "Agreement on the Regulations of the Vietnam-Laos National Border"; and cooperate in maintaining border security.

  Previously, delegations from the Khammouane Provincial Women's Federation of Laos and the Quang Binh Provincial Women's Federation of Vietnam visited Uncle Ho and the Quang Binh Provincial Martyrs' Shrine to offer incense and flowers; and visited households in Mai Thuy Commune, Le Thuy District, Quang Binh Province, to observe their waste collection and sorting practices at the source.
