Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the evening of March 22nd, Prime Minister Hun Manet, speaking at the opening ceremony of the 9th River Festival in Takeo Province, emphasized that tourism development should be centered on local communities, achieving mutual benefit through community participation.
Prime Minister Hun Manet pointed out that the primary goal of developing community tourism is to enhance the carrying capacity of communities. Only on this basis should external private investment be considered. He stressed that relevant government departments should focus on providing high-quality hospitality and marketing training to tourism communities to improve their service quality; assisting communities in improving infrastructure, creating more convenient conditions, and providing necessary financial support; and strengthening cooperation with surrounding tourism communities to achieve resource sharing and complementary advantages.

Prime Minister Hun Manet stressed that developing community tourism does not exclude large-scale private investment. On the contrary, private investment should supplement existing community tourism resources, not compete with them. He encouraged private enterprises to cooperate with communities to jointly develop large-scale tourist resorts and other projects to achieve mutual benefit.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Hun Manet also called on private banking institutions to provide preferential loans to promising tourism communities to help them participate in tourism development.

It is worth mentioning that, in order to protect the pristine ecological environment of Mount Kampong Sa in Kampong Speu province, Prime Minister Hun Manet decisively revoked development projects previously awarded to four companies earlier this month, involving more than 40 hectares of land, and handed the area over to local community management. This move demonstrates the government's high regard for environmental protection and community interests.
Through these measures, the Royal Government of Cambodia is committed to promoting the sustainable development of the tourism industry and achieving a balance between economic growth, environmental protection, and community development.
