  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – A press conference for the 7th Hainan Island International Film Festival was held in Haikou on the 25th. Chen Jiyang, Director of the Hainan Provincial Film Bureau and Secretary-General of the Hainan Island International Film Festival Organizing Committee, announced at the conference that the 7th Hainan Island International Film Festival will be held in Sanya from December 3rd to 9th.

  Chen Jiyang introduced that this year's film festival, themed "A Myriad of Marine Life, Boundless Cinema," adheres to the concept of "year-round screenings, island-wide screenings, public viewing, and a complete industry chain," aiming to build a platform for international film culture exchange and mutual learning. The festival will feature an opening ceremony, the "Golden Coconut Award" competition, film screenings, the Golden Coconut Forum, the "Green Coconut Project" investment and financing, the Golden Coconut Master Class, and the closing ceremony and "Golden Coconut Award" presentation ceremony.

  As the core competition unit of the film festival, the "Golden Coconut Award" competition and screenings will solicit outstanding films globally, comprising feature films, documentaries, and short films. Led by Jury President Marco Müller, the international jury comprises 13 renowned film professionals from home and abroad, including 7 feature film judges, 3 documentary judges, and 3 short film judges. Juliette Binoche serves as the festival's ambassador, and Lin Chi-ling as the screening ambassador. World-renowned director James Cameron and his creative team will attend the Chinese premiere of *Avatar: Ashes* in Sanya on December 8th.

  This year's festival's submissions reflected two main characteristics: "internationalization" and "diversity." A total of 4,564 films were received from 119 countries and regions, including 788 feature films, 403 documentary features, and 3,373 short films, setting a new record for the festival.

  These films are categorized into feature films, documentaries, and short films, competing for 10 awards, including Best Film, Jury Grand Prix, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Visual Effects, Best Chinese Language Contribution Award, Best Documentary, and Best Short Film. Outstanding films will also receive special honors such as "Special Mention from the Jury" and "Special Mention from the Organizing Committee."

  As the last international film festival of the year, the 7th Hainan Island International Film Festival's screening section brings together over 100 high-quality films from renowned international film festivals such as Cannes, Locarno, Venice, Toronto, and Busan, showcasing the latest achievements in global cinema. The screenings will run from November this year until the New Year's Day holiday next year, featuring 120-150 Chinese and foreign films in 12 cinemas and multiple open-air screening venues in Sanya, Haikou, and Lingshui.
