
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) officially launched the "Maha Loi Krathong @ Ayutthaya" festival tonight at Wat Phra Lan in Ayutthaya Historical Park. The event includes a royal music performance paying tribute to Queen Sirikit, as well as displays of traditional arts, crafts, and festival rituals, showcasing Thai cultural heritage in a solemn atmosphere.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Captain Thamanat Promppao, and attended by Mr. Woravi Yorsang, Deputy Governor of Ayutthaya Province, Mr. Na Krutasut, Deputy Governor of Tourism Products and Commerce, members of the TAT Board of Directors, TAT executives, and representatives from the public and private sectors.
Captain Thamanat stated that the Ayutthaya Loi Krathong Festival embodies the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, through the TAT, of its commitment to enhancing the quality and impact of Thai cultural festivals, thereby establishing Thailand as a global tourism destination. “This year’s event, upholding the principles of sustainable development and coinciding with Thailand’s national period of mourning, provides the public with an opportunity to remember Queen Sirikit. At the same time, this solemn celebration also helps enhance Thailand’s international image, strengthen national pride, and promote tourism.”
Captain Thamana Promppao delivered the opening address at the 2025 Ayutthaya Loy Krathong ceremony, commemorating Queen Sirikit’s legacy.
Set against the backdrop of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ayutthaya, the Ayutthaya Loy Krathong Festival showcases the timeless beauty of the Loy Krathong tradition, embodying Thailand’s cultural heritage, creativity, and spirit of unity. To suit the mourning period, the atmosphere of the event has been adjusted, including a traditional Noppamas procession led by Miss World 2025 and Tourism Authority of Thailand Ambassador Opal Suchata Chuangsri, as well as a symbolic light show, a drone performance paying tribute to the Royal Family, and traditional fireworks. The entire event centers on cultural performances and community participation, encouraging people to appreciate and experience Thai culture in a tranquil and elegant atmosphere.

The Loy Krathong Festival in Ayutthaya will be held on November 6, 2025, at Wat Phra Luang in Ayutthaya Historical Park, from 4 pm to 10 pm. Visitors are advised to wear mourning clothes, simple attire, or black ribbons as a sign of respect.
