Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The latest data released by Cambodia's Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training shows that in the first five months of 2026, a total of 650 new enterprises, companies, and factories were registered nationwide. This brings the total number of registered enterprises in Cambodia to 47,299, up from 46,649 last year, indicating a continued expansion of the market.
Sun Messa, spokesperson for the Cambodian Ministry of Labor, explained that the continued establishment of new market entities has effectively broadened employment channels and promoted the steady growth of the national labor force. Currently, Cambodia's total labor force has reached 2,296,348, of which 1,309,190 are women.
Sun Messa stated that the continued operation of new factories and enterprises will continue to boost market demand for labor, drive the release of manufacturing capacity, and promote a steady increase in foreign trade orders and export volume. "With the continuous increase in the number of newly established factories and the expanding market demand for labor, Cambodia's export orders are expected to see a sustained improvement," he said.
Regarding the current positive economic trend, Sun Mesa pointed out that the core reason is Cambodia's stable investment environment and the government's series of measures to continuously optimize the business environment and maintain the country's industrial competitiveness, which have continuously attracted various domestic and foreign capital to invest in Cambodia. He emphasized that the steady growth in investment volume, the number of factories starting operations, and employment fully demonstrates the resilience of Cambodia's economic development and is also strong evidence of the effectiveness of investment reform policies implemented during the seventh government's term. Related reforms have continuously simplified investment approval procedures and lowered business barriers, greatly improving the ease of doing business in the Cambodian market.
Sun Mesa expressed confidence in the Cambodian government's governance capabilities and its measures to maintain national unity and stable development. He stated that the stable development situation will further boost the confidence of domestic and foreign investors, continuously attract new investment projects, and encourage existing investors to expand their production and operation scale in Cambodia.
The Ministry of Labor predicts that with the continued expansion and improvement of the industrial sector, more high-quality jobs will be created, continuously improving the operating efficiency of enterprises and the income level of the people, providing solid support for Cambodia's long-term development goals of sustainable economic development and improved people's well-being.
