
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) On the morning of May 13, Cambodian Acting Head of State Hun Sen met with Trinh Van Kiet, Member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, Secretary of the Central Committee, and Minister of Propaganda, Education and Mass Mobilization. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on deepening bilateral friendly relations and expanding economic and trade investment cooperation.

Hun Sen expressed his satisfaction with the continued stability of the traditional good-neighborly relations between Cambodia and Vietnam, and proposed that the two countries work together to increase bilateral trade to US$20 billion. He stated that the scale of bilateral trade has steadily increased year after year, and bilateral trade has already exceeded US$11 billion by 2025, providing a solid foundation and feasibility for achieving the US$20 billion target.
Hun Sen emphasized that economic and trade investment is the core pillar of Cambodia-Vietnam relations, and that practical cooperation in trade, connectivity, and cultural exchanges between border provinces should be further strengthened. At the same time, youth exchanges and talent training cooperation between the two countries are becoming increasingly close, effectively enhancing people-to-people friendship.

Trinh Van Kiet expressed his gratitude for the meeting and highly praised the close cooperation between the two sides in legislation, political affairs, and people-to-people exchanges. He revealed that 2027 will mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Vietnam, and the two countries will jointly hold a series of commemorative celebrations. Both sides fully affirmed the achievements in border security and stability cooperation and agreed to continue deepening cooperation in related fields.
Zheng Wenjue fully agreed with Cambodia's initiative to enhance bilateral trade and was also optimistic that the $20 billion trade target would be achieved as scheduled.
