Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The latest statistics released by the Cambodian Commercial Gaming Committee show that Cambodia's gaming tax revenue saw significant growth in 2025. At the same time, industry regulation has been further tightened, and the direction of standardized development has become increasingly clear.
According to Zhuang Chanta, Technical Advisor to the Committee's General Secretariat, on the 20th, Cambodia's gaming tax revenue exceeded US$72 million in 2025, an increase of approximately 14% compared to over US$60 million in 2024. Data shows that by the end of 2025, Cambodia had issued 195 legal casino licenses nationwide, of which 160 were in operation, with the vast majority of these operations concentrated in Sihanoukville Province.
In an interview, Zhuang Chanta emphasized that the Committee consistently adheres to the rule of law in the industry and will take strict measures, including administrative warnings and heavy fines, against casino operators and owners who violate the Commercial Gaming Management Law and related laws and regulations; in serious cases, they will resolutely suspend operations or revoke their business licenses. He reiterated that all entities operating in the commercial gaming industry must strictly fulfill their legal obligations and unconditionally comply with all Cambodian government regulations regarding the standardized development of the industry.
To demonstrate its determination to regulate market order, the Cambodian Commercial Gaming Committee officially issued a notice on February 19, 2026: due to the failure of some institutions to comply with compliance requirements, the Committee has decided to suspend or revoke the operating licenses of a total of 5 casinos.
This move signifies that the regulation of Cambodia's gaming industry has entered a phase of "normalization and strict enforcement," aiming to ensure national tax revenue security and transparency, and maintain social order and stability.
