Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Cambodian Ministry of the Interior recently issued an official statement detailing the latest situation and refugee resettlement progress following the ceasefire on the Thai-Cambodian border. The statement strongly condemned Thailand's breach of border regulations and reiterated Cambodia's firm stance on safeguarding its national territorial integrity.

The statement indicated that since the ceasefire agreement reached between Thailand and Cambodia on December 27, 2025, the situation in the border region has been generally stable, with no further armed clashes. Regarding resettlement, over 86% of displaced persons have safely returned home. However, humanitarian challenges remain; currently, 87,204 residents are unable to return due to security concerns or damage to their homes, including 45,756 women and 28,256 children.

Due to the ongoing conflict, public services in Cambodia's Oddar Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey, and Preah Vihear provinces have not fully recovered. 48 schools and 22 medical institutions remain closed. The report also mentioned that as of early December 2025, the ongoing border conflict had caused severe damage to civilian infrastructure, including over 1,000 homes and private properties, and more than 100 public buildings and infrastructure.

Regarding Thailand's recent actions, the Cambodian Ministry of the Interior expressed serious concern, explicitly criticizing Thailand's deployment of militarized obstacles such as shipping containers in the border area, considering this a serious violation of the joint statement previously reached by both sides.

In the report, the Cambodian Ministry of the Interior reiterated its firm support for the Royal Government, headed by Prime Minister Hun Manet, in upholding the country's territorial integrity, emphasizing that all ceasefire agreements signed by Cambodia are fundamentally aimed at peacefully resolving disputes and do not involve any form of territorial concession or compromise of sovereignty.

Regarding the current border dispute, the Cambodian government appealed to the international community, urging ASEAN, the United Nations, and the international community to continue supporting Cambodia in resolving the border issue through peaceful diplomatic means in accordance with international law; at the same time, it called on all citizens to maintain a high degree of unity, recognize the truth, and resolutely resist any political incitement that uses the border situation to undermine national interests or mislead the public.
