Minister of Tourism, Hua Ha, and Minister of Religious Affairs, Chai Borin, jointly attended the signing ceremony.
The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding demonstrates the two ministries' firm commitment to close cooperation. Both sides aim to promote Cambodia's rich religious tourism resources comprehensively and from multiple perspectives through resource integration; plan and develop distinctive religious tourism activities to enhance its appeal to domestic and international tourists; jointly conduct professional training for religious tourism reception and tour guides to ensure the accuracy and professionalism of cultural dissemination; and improve supporting facilities in key religious tourist areas to support the high-quality development of tourism products.
The signing ceremony was a grand affair, attended by several State Secretaries and leadership members from both the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Religious Affairs, with approximately 130 officials witnessing this important moment.
In his address, Minister of Tourism, Hua Ha, emphasized that Cambodia possesses a solid cultural, historical, and religious foundation. Religion is not only the cornerstone of national faith and social morality, but also a core pillar for maintaining social harmony and national peace.
Minister Hua Ha pointed out that the tourism and religious sectors are mutually reinforcing. This cooperation establishes a shared vision: to promote the deep integration of "religion + tourism" based on the principles of resilience, sustainability, and inclusivity, while respecting religious values and preserving cultural characteristics.
He further stated that through cooperation between the two ministries, Cambodia will successfully transform its cultural and religious heritage into a powerful driving force for economic and social development, thereby better serving the highest interests of the nation and its people.
Minister Hua Ha expressed confidence in the prospects of this cooperation. He stated that the memorandum of understanding will serve as a model of pragmatic cooperation between government departments, embodying the spirit of shared thinking, shared action, and shared responsibility; enhancing inter-departmental collaboration based on foresight, initiative, and interactivity; and simultaneously promoting tourism economic growth and attracting international tourists while simultaneously enhancing social moral values and national identity, benefiting grassroots communities and society as a whole.
This cooperation marks a significant step forward for Cambodia in its diversified tourism strategy, laying a solid foundation for the green recovery and high-quality development of the national tourism industry.
