Cambodia cracks down on juvenile delinquency, arresting 70 people in a week.

  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Cambodian Ministry of Interior spokesperson Du Sokh recently reported on the latest enforcement progress of the national police in maintaining social order. During the week of January 15-21, through meticulous nationwide operations, the police successfully cracked down on multiple cases of disturbances by delinquent youths and illegal gambling, effectively safeguarding public order and safety in communities.

  According to the spokesperson, in the past week, police nationwide handled 21 cases of disturbances by delinquent youths, arresting 70 individuals involved. Simultaneously, the police also made breakthroughs in the special operation against illegal gambling, investigating 6 cases and arresting 23 individuals involved in gambling. Currently, all 93 suspects have been transferred to local courts to face judicial proceedings.

  This enforcement operation was extensive and intensive, covering Phnom Penh and 10 provinces and cities including Kandal, Kampong Speu, Kampot, Takeo, Tbong Khmum, Svay Rieng, Kratie, Battambang, and Pursat. It demonstrated the police's close monitoring and efficient coordination regarding public security issues.

  Du Sok emphasized that the police will maintain a "zero-tolerance" policy towards illegal activities that disrupt public order. He stated that the Ministry of the Interior will continue to strengthen social control, requiring police at all levels to be keenly aware of potential security risks in communities and ensure immediate intervention in emergencies to fundamentally maintain community peace.

  The spokesperson reiterated that the results of this crackdown send a clear signal: under any circumstances, the government will resolutely combat all forms of illegal gambling and juvenile delinquency. Such activities have a serious negative impact on social stability, and the authorities will resolutely eradicate this scourge of crime through routine enforcement.

  Looking back at the overall security situation since January, the National Police's enforcement work has maintained high efficiency. Statistics show that in the first two weeks of January, police have solved 38 cases of juvenile delinquency and arrested 128 people; they have also cracked 11 cases of illegal gambling and arrested 32 people involved in gambling.

  The Ministry of the Interior calls on the public to actively participate in community supervision and cooperate with police operations to jointly create a safe, civilized, and orderly social environment.
