  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) Recently, the Cambodian Criminal Police Bureau and the Sihanoukville Provincial Police conducted a joint operation and successfully cracked a kidnapping and extortion case, arresting two Chinese suspects on the spot and rescuing the kidnapped Vietnamese victim. The case has entered the follow-up investigation stage.

  On the 11th of this month, an illegal detention case occurred in a hotel in Sihanoukville, Sihanoukville Province, Cambodia, which was later confirmed to be related to kidnapping and extortion. It is understood that the victim is a 23-year-old Vietnamese woman, Đỗ Thị Mỹ Duyên (standard Vietnamese spelling). After taking control of the victim, the suspects demanded a ransom of US$20,000 from her family.

  Upon receiving the report, the Cambodian police attached great importance to the case and quickly instructed the Criminal Police Bureau and the Sihanoukville Provincial Police Bureau to form a joint task force to launch an investigation. Through multi-dimensional investigation, technical tracking, and surveillance, the task force quickly identified the suspects and their movements, discovering that the two men had fled to Phnom Penh after committing the kidnapping and extortion.

  To prevent further harm to the victim, the task force decisively formulated an arrest plan. At 8:40 PM on the 11th, police precisely executed a raid on Street 1986 in the New Phnom Penh Sangkat district of Sen Sok, Phnom Penh, successfully apprehending the two Chinese men involved in the case. The victim was safely rescued.

  Currently, the two Chinese suspects have been transferred to the Sihanoukville Provincial Police Department. Police are conducting in-depth interrogations regarding the details of the case and will subsequently transfer the suspects to judicial authorities for review and prosecution in accordance with Cambodian legal procedures. The rescued Vietnamese woman has been properly resettled; initial assessments indicate she is in stable physical and mental condition, and police will assist with her resettlement arrangements.
