
Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Bavet International Border Crossing in Svay Rieng Province, Cambodia, recently released its 2025 entry and exit statistics. The data shows that, thanks to Cambodia's political stability and the continuous improvement of the cross-border tourism environment, the border crossing received over 1.8 million cross-border tourists throughout the year, with all key indicators showing significant growth compared to previous years.
Phu Sothee Kao, Assistant Official of the Bavet International Border Crossing, revealed to the media on the 8th that in 2025, the border crossing received a total of 1,802,747 inbound tourists, covering 160 countries and regions worldwide, an increase of 224,048 compared to 2024, representing a year-on-year growth of 12.42%. Among them, 1,480,833 were foreign tourists from 159 countries, further highlighting the important position of the Bavet border crossing as a land transportation hub between Cambodia and Vietnam.

Regarding outbound travel, in 2025, the total number of tourists departing through the Bavet border crossing reached 1,771,820, involving 168 countries and regions, an increase of 246,677 compared to the previous year, representing a growth rate of 13.92%. Among them, 1,453,343 were outbound tourists, with destinations covering 167 countries and regions, indicating that the overall flow of people entering and leaving the border remained highly active.
In his work summary, Phuc Sotheo Khan pointed out that the significant increase in the number of foreign tourists at the Bavet border crossing in 2025 was due to the combined effect of multiple favorable factors: firstly, the Cambodian government's policy guidance for promoting the recovery and opening up of the tourism industry played a core driving role; secondly, the solid and effective security measures at the border crossing and surrounding areas created a safe and stable travel environment for business travelers and tourists; thirdly, the strategic adjustments of some land border crossings in neighboring countries prompted more cross-border traffic to shift to the Bavet border crossing; and fourthly, the government's scientific and effective infectious disease control measures significantly enhanced the confidence of international tourists.
Officials at the Bavet border crossing stated that they will continue to improve customs clearance efficiency and optimize service quality to better meet the growing demand for cross-border travel and inject strong momentum into the continued prosperity of Cambodia's trade and tourism industries.
