Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Khenfinan, Secretary of State of the Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and Director of the Cambodian Agricultural Diversification Project (CASDP), recently signed a support agreement totaling nearly US$13 million with representatives from nine modern agricultural communities in Siem Reap province. The agreement includes US$12 million in low-interest loans and nearly US$1 million in grants, aiming to promote agricultural modernization in Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Kampong Thom, and Siem Reap provinces.

This signing represents the largest funding support program to date under the Cambodian Agricultural Diversification Project. The project is expected to provide production funds and infrastructure support to over 1,500 rice farmers, covering more than 15,000 hectares of farmland. The funds will primarily be used for the construction of storage facilities and the purchase of key agricultural equipment such as harvesters, tractors, water pumps, and rice milling machines to comprehensively improve production efficiency and the region's agricultural resilience. Furthermore, this aid will provide crucial support for agricultural recovery and reconstruction efforts following the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict.

The nine agricultural communities receiving support are located in four provinces: two in Kampong Thom, five in Battambang, one in Siem Reap, and one in Banteay Meanchey. This project not only aims to alleviate the short-term difficulties faced by farmers due to the border situation but also strives to promote the transformation of local agriculture towards large-scale and mechanized operations, enhancing the sustainability and resilience of the food production system.
