Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) reports that National Highway 48 in Cambodia is a strategically important transportation artery, considered one of the lifelines of Cambodia's economy, and plays a crucial role in the regional development potential of Koh Kong province.

The construction of National Highway 48 aims to promote domestic transportation connectivity and integration, particularly connecting to the deep-sea port of Sihanoukville. This strategic route will facilitate trade, investment, and the transportation of agricultural and agro-industrial products, making the process more efficient, faster, and cheaper.

Furthermore, National Highway 48 connects with National Highway 10, which connects Pursat, Battambang, and Pailin provinces. This interconnected network further extends the transportation system to coastal and port areas, significantly improving travel convenience and efficiency.

The National Highway 48 quality upgrade project begins at the junction of National Highway 4 in Yantian City and extends to Phuming City in Koh Kong province. The entire upgraded section is over 148 kilometers long and was fully completed and officially opened on April 22, 2025.
