Cambodian National Assembly President Khun Soc Thavi met with a delegation from the People's Congress of the Tibet Auto

  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) On the morning of November 27, a delegation led by Jiancan, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, paid a courtesy call on Cambodian National Assembly President Khun Sokhonnavi at the National Assembly Building during their visit to Cambodia and held working talks.

  President Khun Sokhonnavi warmly welcomed the delegation and emphasized the significant meaning of the visit, which will further consolidate the "ironclad" friendship, comprehensive strategic partnership, and the building of an all-weather China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era between Cambodia and China.

  She pointed out that the traditional friendship between the two countries has a long history and is built on the foundation of loyalty, trust, understanding, mutual respect, and prioritizing the interests of the people. Cambodia firmly adheres to the "One China" policy.

  President Khun Sokhonnavi reviewed the positive progress in relations between the legislative bodies of the two countries, particularly mentioning the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation signed by the two parliaments on September 23, 2024, and the cooperation agreement between the secretariats of the two parliaments. She stated that these documents have laid a solid foundation for regular contact between the two parliaments, including at the leadership, special committee, and secretariat levels.

  Based on the spirit of the aforementioned memorandum, she has led two Cambodian National Assembly delegations to China, and some chairpersons of Cambodian National Assembly special committees have also visited China. The Cambodian National Assembly has also consistently hosted delegations from the National People's Congress and local people's congresses of China visiting Cambodia. She emphasized that the two parliaments continue to maintain a positive momentum of cooperation, supporting each other within bilateral and inter-parliamentary forums to jointly benefit the people of both countries.

  During the talks, Deputy Director Keng Seng pledged to actively promote more investors and tourists from the Tibet Autonomous Region to visit Cambodia.

  President Khun Sokhonn expressed her gratitude and noted that 2025 has been designated as the "Cambodia-China Tourism Year." She emphasized that tourism is one of the important pillars supporting Cambodia's economy, and the Cambodian government attaches great importance to its development. She mentioned that Cambodia possesses thousands of temples and natural and historical tourist attractions with enormous potential, similar to the Tibet Autonomous Region, which is renowned for its natural tourism.

  Deputy Director Keng Seng expressed his appreciation for Cambodia's rapid development and new look, full of economic, cultural, and tourism potential. He briefed President Khun Sokhonn on the tremendous achievements of the Tibet Autonomous Region under the care of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government, and under the leadership of President Xi Jinping. These achievements included a well-developed transportation network, its transformation into a highly attractive natural tourist area, 100% clean electricity use, and a significant improvement in the quality of life for its people.

  To further strengthen ties between the Cambodian people and the Tibet Autonomous Region, Deputy Director Khin Sang cordially invited President Khun Sokhonn to lead a high-level delegation of the Cambodian National Assembly to visit Tibet at her convenience.

  President Khun Sokhonn gladly accepted the invitation to visit Tibet and expressed her gratitude for China's long-term support for Cambodia's development.

  She particularly thanked China for its support of the Cambodia-Dachong Funan Canal project, which is of significant strategic and historical importance.

  She also thanked China for its firm and clear support during the border conflict between Cambodia and Thailand. She emphasized that China's position is consistent with Cambodia's policy of loving peace and seeking a peaceful resolution based on the UN Charter, the ASEAN Charter, and bilateral mechanisms.
