Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Cambodia National Airlines plans to begin introducing China's next-generation C909 aircraft by mid-2026, marking a key step forward for Cambodia's aviation industry in fleet modernization and enhancing regional competitiveness.

This aircraft introduction plan stems from a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by both parties in Zhengzhou on September 8, 2025. According to the MOU, Cambodia National Airlines will purchase a total of 20 C909 aircraft, including 10 firm orders and 10 priority purchase options.

To further implement and deepen cooperation, on October 22 this year, a high-level delegation led by Mao Havanna, Minister of State Secretariat of Civil Aviation of Cambodia and Chairman of Cambodia National Airlines, visited Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) in Shanghai.

This strategic cooperation is considered an important component of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Cambodia and China and is incorporated into the broader framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation mechanism, and Cambodia's Vision for Air Transport Development 2030. The agreement is expected to strongly promote regional aviation connectivity, tourism recovery, and deeper economic integration.

During the talks, Chairman Mao Havanna expressed his sincere congratulations to COMAC on its outstanding achievements in the civil aircraft sector and emphasized Cambodia's high level of trust in COMAC products. COMAC Chairman He Dongfeng reiterated COMAC's full support for Cambodia National Airlines' development, helping it become a leading operator of the C909 aircraft in the region and further enhancing Cambodia's aviation autonomy.

To ensure the operational quality and efficiency of the C909 aircraft, COMAC pledged to implement the internationally recognized "6S service support model" for Cambodia National Airlines. This model covers service system, supply support, spare parts support, professional support, standard support, and expert support.

Cambodia National Airlines CEO David Chan pointed out that the significant advantages of the C909 aircraft in operational efficiency and cost control are highly aligned with the company's strategic goal of expanding routes to second- and third-tier cities in China and Southeast Asia.

This cooperation is expected to bring multiple benefits, including strengthening Cambodia's aviation industry capabilities, promoting the construction of passenger and cargo networks, boosting tourism and investment, creating high-skilled jobs, and supporting green aviation and sustainable growth.

It is worth emphasizing that Cambodia National Airlines has always adhered to a diversified aircraft strategy. While establishing in-depth cooperation with COMAC, the company will continue to maintain collaboration with major European and American aircraft manufacturers to safeguard operational neutrality, safety, and system resilience.
