A Chinese civilian-owned ocean-going medical rescue ship will dock at Sihanoukville in 2026.

  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the morning of October 31, 2025, the maiden voyage launch ceremony of a medical aid ship, jointly organized by the Cambodia-China Relations Development Association and the Pinglan Charity Foundation, was officially held in Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province. The ship is 100.15 meters long, 18 meters wide, and has a displacement of approximately 5,000 tons. His Excellency Thong Vathana, Second Vice President of the Senate of Cambodia, attended the ceremony.

  Dr. Chea Monile, President of the Cambodia-China Relations Development Association, stated that this event marks the second mission of the Beijing Pinglan Foundation in the field of public health in Cambodia. The foundation collaborates with Cambodian civil society organizations and is conducting this mission with the support of the Cambodia-China Friendship Association. The mission is planned to begin in Sihanoukville, Cambodia.

  Wang Ke, Chairman of the Beijing Pinglan Foundation, stated that, under the coordination of the Cambodia-China Relations Development Association, following the launch of the mobile operating vehicle project in Cambodia at the end of June 2025, the foundation plans to conduct humanitarian aid work in Cambodia in 2026. He also emphasized that the foundation's participation in demining operations in Cambodia is made possible by the support of various parties, with the Cambodia-China Friendship Association at its core and the Cambodian Mine Action Authority (CMAA) and the Cambodian Mine Action Center (CMAC) as partners.

  His Excellency Thong Vathana, Second Vice President of the Senate of Cambodia, expressed his appreciation and high regard for the Beijing Pinglan Foundation's assistance work in Cambodia and encouraged the foundation to continue cooperating with all parties to contribute to the Royal Government of Cambodia's reconstruction and development efforts in rural areas. His Excellency congratulated the foundation on its achievements and welcomed the arrival of the medical aid ship in Cambodia in 2026.

  It is worth mentioning that this hospital ship is equipped with operating rooms and modern medical and rescue equipment. Furthermore, a professional medical and rescue team will be on board to provide services for public health humanitarian aid work in the Global South.
