  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Fifth Session of the 14th Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress opened in Nanjing on March 3, with Governor Liu Xiaotao delivering the government work report. In 2025, Jiangsu Province focused on stabilizing employment, businesses, markets, and expectations, resulting in overall stable and progressive economic operation. The province's GDP grew by 5.3% year-on-year, maintaining its leading position nationwide in terms of growth.

  Data previously released by the Jiangsu Provincial Bureau of Statistics shows that Jiangsu's GDP reached 14,235.15 billion yuan in 2025. Specifically, the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size and the revenue of service enterprises above designated size increased by 6.5% and 7% respectively. Total retail sales of consumer goods reached 4.64 trillion yuan, and total import and export volume reached 5.95 trillion yuan, an increase of 6%.

  In 2025, the profits of Jiangsu's industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 6%, and 191 industrial enterprises had operating revenue exceeding 10 billion yuan. Online consumption and live-streaming e-commerce transactions above designated size achieved double-digit growth. Cultural tourism and sporting events boosted and expanded service consumption, with the "Su Chao" brand breaking into the mainstream and becoming a top trend. Brand activities such as "Following Su Chao to Tour Jiangsu" demonstrated their traffic-driving effect, resulting in a 10.4% increase in tourist arrivals and a 10.2% increase in total tourist spending. The added value of the private sector accounted for 58.5% of the region's GDP. Renewable energy power generation increased by 28.3%. The output of green products such as lithium-ion batteries, new energy vehicles, and wind turbines all increased by more than 20%.

  Meanwhile, Jiangsu's foreign trade market became more diversified. The Jiangsu Central Asia Center was upgraded to a China-Central Asia trade facilitation cooperation platform, with imports and exports to countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative exceeding 50% for the first time. Shipbuilding and marine engineering exports accounted for more than one-third of the national total, and imports and exports through cross-border e-commerce platforms increased by 27.4%.

  2026 marks the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan period. Jiangsu Province's main expected targets for economic and social development are: a 5% increase in GDP, with efforts to achieve even better results; a 2% increase in general public budget revenue; 1.2 million new urban jobs; an urban surveyed unemployment rate of around 5%; a consumer price index increase of around 2%; income growth in line with economic growth; a 5% increase in total retail sales of consumer goods; a R&D intensity of around 3.42%; stable grain production; and achieving the national target for reducing carbon dioxide emissions per unit of GDP.
