Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – According to the Hubei Provincial Port and Shipping Development Center, Hubei's water transport investment totaled 1.91 billion yuan in the first quarter of this year. Key indicators such as port throughput, container throughput, and waterway freight volume maintained growth, and major projects progressed smoothly.
Hubei conducted focused analysis of key ports and shipping routes to dynamically monitor transportation demand; it promoted the development of rail-water intermodal transport, continuously releasing the potential of waterway transportation. After the Spring Festival, infrastructure construction accelerated across the province, leading to a sustained increase in demand for waterway transportation of essential infrastructure materials such as mineral building materials and non-metallic ores. Simultaneously, leading port and shipping enterprises in the province optimized their cargo structure and expanded their cargo channels, achieving rapid business growth and becoming the core engine of the province's freight volume growth.
Data shows that in the first quarter, the province's port throughput totaled 191 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.6%; container throughput reached 703,400 TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 3.3%; and foreign trade cargo throughput reached 5.4019 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.2%.
The core project of the Hubei section of the Han-Xiang-Gui Railway is progressing rapidly. Currently, the 101-kilometer section of the Hanjiang River from Danjiangkou to Xiangyang, which lacks seamless connections, has been fully opened to traffic. Construction of projects such as the Xinglong Hub second-line ship lock and the 2,000-tonnage waterway improvement project from Xinglong to Caidian on the Hanjiang River is progressing smoothly. Temporary facilities are under construction for the Cuijiaying and Yakou second-line ship locks and the second phase of the waterway improvement project from Nianpanshan to Xinglong.
Hubei's port capacity expansion and efficiency improvement efforts continue to accelerate. Projects such as the Wuhan Port Chedu Bulk Cargo Terminal, the Zhongpeng Vegetable Oil Terminal, and the Yuehan Terminal renovation and upgrading project have commenced construction. Forty-one ongoing projects, including the first phase of the Jinshui Operation Area of Wuhan Port Jiangxia Port Area, the third phase of the Qipanzhou Operation Area of Huangshi Port Qipanzhou Port Area, and the comprehensive terminal of the Lunhe Zhuhu Port Area of Xiaogan Port, are progressing smoothly.
Next, Hubei will accelerate the construction of the Hubei section of the Han-Xiang-Gui Inland Waterway Transportation Corridor, continuously consolidating the growth momentum of water transport production. (End)
