According to Guangzhou Customs, as of June 24th this year, the number of passengers passing through Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport has exceeded 10 million, reaching this milestone a month earlier than last year, representing a year-on-year increase of over 21% and setting a new record for the same period.
Since the beginning of this year, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport has added or increased the frequency of 14 international passenger and cargo routes, 13 of which connect to countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, deeply enhancing connectivity. Currently, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport connects to over 100 international and regional destinations, continuously strengthening its international aviation hub connectivity and radiation capacity.
According to the head of the Fourth Section of the Passenger Inspection Division of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Customs, since the beginning of this year, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Customs has supervised approximately 62,000 inbound and outbound aircraft, with an average daily passenger volume of 58,000 and a peak daily passenger volume of 68,000.
The further enrichment of the route network has also driven the improvement in the quality and volume of cargo transportation at the port. Since the beginning of this year, as of June 24, the import and export cargo volume at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport has exceeded 700,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 5.2%.
The continued growth in cross-border passenger traffic has further stimulated new forms of duty-free consumption at the port. Chen Pingting, head of the Duty-Free Goods Supervision Section of the Audit and Business Department of Guangzhou Baiyun Airport Customs, introduced that Guangzhou Baiyun Airport currently has 26 duty-free sales outlets and 2 downtown duty-free shop pick-up points, offering more than 11,000 kinds of duty-free goods, covering cosmetics, trendy domestic jewelry, tobacco and alcohol, as well as electronic products such as domestic mobile phones and tablets.
According to statistics from Guangzhou Customs, since the beginning of this year, the sales volume of duty-free goods at Guangzhou ports has exceeded 700 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.5%. (End)
