Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On March 5th, the Guangzhou Municipal Joint Meeting of Party and Government Officials on Overseas Chinese Assistance to the Economy was held. Wang Huanqing, Standing Committee Member of the Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee and Minister of the United Front Work Department, attended and addressed the meeting. Pan Zhijun, Member of the Party Group and Secretary-General of the Guangzhou Municipal Government, presided over the meeting. Relevant officials from municipal departments including the United Front Work Department (Guangzhou Overseas Chinese Affairs Office), the Development and Reform Commission, the Commerce Bureau, and the Investment and Development Commission, as well as relevant leaders from district-level United Front Work Departments and investment promotion departments, participated.
The meeting focused on studying and implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on overseas Chinese affairs, fully implementing the work requirements of the Provincial and Municipal Party Committees on overseas Chinese assistance to the economy, closely adhering to the deployment requirements of promoting both industry and commerce and integrating the two sectors, and studying and promoting work related to attracting investment from overseas Chinese, the implementation of key projects, and the holding of the "Global Overseas Chinese Enterprises Gathering in Guangzhou" event. It aimed to fully leverage the unique advantages of overseas Chinese wisdom and strength to better serve the high-quality economic and social development of Guangzhou.
The meeting emphasized the need to firmly establish the concept of "comprehensive overseas Chinese affairs," deeply understand the important significance of overseas Chinese assistance to the economy, accurately grasp the unique advantages of Guangzhou as a major city for overseas Chinese affairs, and more broadly gather the wisdom and strength of overseas Chinese. We must focus our efforts on key areas, adhering to the requirements of attracting investment, projects, industrial parks, and services. We must strengthen the "three introductions and three services" approach—attracting talent, technology, and investment; and serving overseas Chinese capital, businesses, and enterprises—to ensure the effective implementation of all measures to support the economy through overseas Chinese. We must strengthen coordination and collaboration, rigorously implement our work, and improve efficiency to create a powerful synergy for supporting the economy through overseas Chinese, injecting more momentum and contributing more strength from overseas Chinese to the city's economic and social development.
