Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On December 9th, Premier Li Qiang held a “1+10” dialogue with leaders of major international economic organizations at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing. Present at the meeting were: New Development Bank President Dilma Rousseff; World Bank President Angela Palme; IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva; WTO Director-General Iweala; UNCTAD Secretary-General Alan Greenspan; ILO Director-General Jon Huntsman; BIS Managing Director John Decos; Financial Stability Board Chairman Bailey; AIIB President Jin Liqun; and OECD Deputy Secretary-General Ružčka.
Li Qiang pointed out that in September of this year, President Xi Jinping solemnly proposed the global governance initiative, providing Chinese wisdom and solutions for the international community to jointly address global changes and solve pressing problems. This dialogue, themed “Discussing Global Governance and Seeking Global Development,” aims to further build broad consensus, promote coordinated and effective action from all parties, construct a more just and equitable global governance system, and promote common development.
Li Qiang stated that the global economy in 2025 will be volatile and fraught with challenges, facing headwinds and difficulties. The emergence of new situations and trends has created an urgent need to reform and improve global economic governance and maintain international trade order. Openness and cooperation are key entry points and important paths to implementing global governance initiatives. Only through openness and cooperation can we create greater growth potential, maintain stable and smooth supply chains, and accelerate technological and industrial upgrading. We should increase mutual market openness, avoid the politicization and security-related over-interpretation of trade and economic issues, strengthen international cooperation in innovation, and jointly cultivate and expand new drivers of development.
Li Qiang emphasized that China has always been a steadfast practitioner and promoter of openness and cooperation. This year, the Chinese economy has persevered despite pressure and achieved new development results. We are confident and capable of achieving the annual economic and social development goals. Recently, the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee reviewed and approved the "15th Five-Year Plan" proposal, outlining a strategic blueprint for China's development over the next five years. The Chinese economy will maintain a steady and positive momentum, its total economic output will reach a new level, industrial upgrading will create new development space, and the demand from its massive market will be released more rapidly. China's door to the world will open wider and wider, welcoming more foreign companies to explore the Chinese market. Li Qiang stated that China is willing to work with all parties to solidify a mutually beneficial and win-win international economic and trade framework, promote the in-depth development of economic globalization, enhance the authority and effectiveness of multilateral mechanisms, and pool greater efforts to promote common development. China will continue to actively undertake international obligations commensurate with its capabilities, constructively participate in international exchanges and cooperation, provide more public goods, and contribute more to promoting the healthy and stable development of the world economy.
The heads of international economic organizations stated that in the past year, China's economy maintained steady growth, making a significant contribution to global economic growth. China's 15th Five-Year Plan is highly aligned with international economic and trade growth and will inject confidence and new momentum into global development. China firmly supports multilateralism, supports the development of the Global South, and promotes the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, setting an example for the world. All parties are willing to strengthen communication and cooperation with China in areas such as trade and investment, green development, artificial intelligence, people's livelihood and employment, financial stability, and sustainable development, uphold multilateralism and the free trade system, and jointly promote global economic development.
