综合路透社和法新社的报道，事发地区21日晚遭遇强降雨，引发山体滑坡。22日早上，警察和当地居民聚集在现场营救被埋人员。10时左右，发生第二次山体滑坡，营救人员遇险。

当地政府官员表示，目前已经发现包括妇女、儿童和警察在内的55名受害者，死亡人数可能会继续增加。他们正加大力度搜寻。

盖泽戈法地区距离首都亚的斯亚贝巴约450公里，车程约10小时。

埃塞俄比亚目前正值雨季，容易引发洪水、山体滑坡等自然灾害。联合国人道主义事务协调厅称，今年4月至5月初，埃南部遭遇强降雨，洪水肆虐，该地区超1.9万人受影响，上千人流离失所，基础设施也遭到破坏。(完)
