Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On March 12, 2026, the Joint Information Center (JIC) for the Thai-Cambodian Situation led a delegation of foreign media representatives to Surin Province, Thailand, for an on-site investigation. The delegation, comprised of 37 journalists from 18 foreign media outlets, and accompanied and assisted by officials from the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, gained an in-depth understanding of the situation regarding the Thai-Cambodian border conflict, received a special briefing on Thai military operations, and visited locations involved in the crimes along the border, providing firsthand evidence to reconstruct the truth of the events.

During the investigation, the delegation focused on visiting casino buildings and a telecommunications fraud den in the Chong Thong border area of Surin Province, and received a special briefing. The briefing clearly pointed out that several buildings within the fraud den were not only a hub for transnational illegal criminal activities but were also being used as military bases by the Cambodian army. Through on-site verification, the delegation confirmed two key facts: first, Cambodia's conversion of civilian buildings for military purposes clearly violates relevant provisions of international law; second, such cross-border criminal networks have become industrialized and complex, seriously infringing upon the legitimate rights and interests of people both within and outside the region.

In addition, the delegation learned in detail about Thailand's military deployments in the border region. The briefing emphasized that all Thai military operations strictly adhere to international law and international humanitarian law, consistently upholding the principles of legality and moderation.

The Thai side stated that organizing this on-site visit for foreign media aimed to convey objective information to the international community based on facts, fully demonstrating Thailand's transparency in related matters. Currently, Thailand is actively promoting international cooperation to combat transnational online fraud, and the facts revealed by this visit further highlight the core prerequisites for combating such crimes—upholding the rule of law, strengthening law enforcement, maintaining social openness, and enhancing public awareness to strengthen the public's ability to resist online fraud, thus preventing related risks at the source.
