Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – A large number of Japanese citizens held a rally in front of the Second Members' Building of the House of Representatives in Tokyo on the evening of the 24th to protest Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's recent policies of accelerating constitutional revision, expanding military capabilities, and strengthening national intelligence capabilities, expressing concern about Japan's future direction.

The rally was jointly organized by several civic groups. Participants held signs reading "Oppose Constitutional Revision" and "Don't Release Fascism from its Cage," and chanted slogans such as "No War."

Protester Noriko Kashiwakawa, in an interview, stated that she was "100% opposed" to Takaichi's policy proposals. She believes that Japan is being led onto a path of "being ready to fight at any time," and if it is continuously incited towards war, "it will only lead to self-destruction." She also stated that Japan should overcome difficulties through dialogue and diplomacy, rather than enacting laws that hinder dialogue or creating a hardline social atmosphere.

Many young people were also present. University student Matsubara expressed concern about Takaichi's recent policy moves, saying, "These policies all seem to be preparing for war." She hopes for a government that better reflects the voice of the people.

On the 20th of this month, during her policy address to the Diet, Takaichi reiterated her strong desire for constitutional revision and proposed policies with strong conservative overtones, including fundamentally strengthening Japan's defense capabilities, expanding exports of lethal weapons, and enhancing national intelligence capabilities. These statements have sparked widespread concern and criticism in Japanese society. (End)
