Mexican president says he will continue to provide humanitarian aid to Cuba.

  According to the Mexican newspaper El Universal, Sinbaum said at a regular press conference in Mexico City that the Mexican people will unite to provide more humanitarian aid to Cuba; regardless of differences between governments, sanctions affecting people's livelihoods should not be implemented.

  In response to a question about the US threat to impose tariffs on countries supplying oil to Cuba, Sinbaum stated that Mexico has suspended oil shipments to Cuba, but the Mexican government is seeking the best solution through diplomatic means to ensure Cuba's access to fuel. She pointed out that the US actions have led to hardship for the Cuban people, calling it "very unfair."

  The Mexican newspaper Daily News reported that Mexico sent two naval vessels to Cuba on the 8th, delivering 814 tons of humanitarian aid. The Mexican Foreign Ministry stated that more than 1,500 tons of supplies are about to be shipped to Cuba. These supplies are mainly food.

  According to the Latin American News Agency, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel expressed his gratitude for Mexico's aid in a social media post. The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cuban Ambassador to Mexico, Eugenio Martínez Enríquez, also expressed their thanks to Mexico.

  According to reports from the Associated Press, Reuters, and other media outlets, the Cuban government issued a Notice to Air Missions to airlines and pilots on the evening of February 8th, stating that due to fuel shortages, refueling services would be unavailable at nine airports in the country between February 10th and March 11th. Currently, Air Canada has suspended flights to Cuba.

  On January 29th, US President Trump signed an executive order threatening to impose ad valorem tariffs on goods imported into the US from countries that supply oil to Cuba. (End)
