Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) learned on January 28th that Dutch customs officials recently seized 4,882 packages of cocaine, weighing over 4 tons (approximately 4,830 kilograms), during a routine inspection. The drugs were discovered during a routine inspection of two containers shipped from Ecuador, with the Netherlands as the final destination.
It is understood that customs officials noticed anomalies in the containers during cargo scanning. After monitoring, the containers were ultimately delivered to a company in Moldec, North Brabant province, on January 22nd. Three people were detained on January 22nd in connection with the case. Two have been released, while a 52-year-old man from Slidrecht appeared in court to be questioned by a pre-trial judge and will remain in pre-trial detention for at least 14 days.
The case is being handled by a joint task force comprised of Dutch customs, port police, and the public prosecutor's office. Further arrests are possible. The seized cocaine has been destroyed. Based on current market prices in 2026, the estimated street value of the 4,830 kilograms of drugs seized is between 360 million and 400 million euros.
