On the same day, Venezuelan President Maduro said he had spoken with UN Secretary-General Guterres to condemn US aggression and threats against Venezuela. Maduro stated that the US not only claimed Venezuelan oil and minerals as theirs but also went so far as to claim Venezuelan land as belonging to the US, which he found unheard of. Maduro reiterated that Venezuela will never become a colony of any country or individual.
