  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – According to Turkey's Anadolu Agency, a senior, unnamed official in the Trump administration recently stated that US President Trump hopes Cambodia and Thailand will fully implement their ceasefire and peace agreement commitments following the deadly clashes along their disputed border.

  The US has clearly called for an end to the conflict.

  The official emphasized that President Trump is committed to continuing to stop the violence and expects both Cambodian and Thai governments to earnestly fulfill their commitments to ending the conflict. This statement comes as the conflict escalates – Thailand launched airstrikes early Monday morning, further escalating tensions at the border.

  The conflict has caused serious casualties and property damage.

  As of the morning of December 9, Thai armed forces launched attacks in Cambodia's Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, and Banteay Meanchey provinces, resulting in a series of serious consequences.

  Regarding casualties, seven Cambodian civilians have been killed and 20 injured. A kindergarten in Oddar Meanchey province was hit by artillery fire, also resulting in casualties.

  Regarding property damage, numerous houses, cultural properties, and public facilities have been destroyed.

  In terms of the impact on people's livelihoods, the conflict has displaced approximately 18,000 people, more than half of whom are women; schools in many areas have been forced to close due to shelling, severely affecting students' physical and mental well-being.

  The US emphasizes regional stability and civilian protection. The US government expressed concern over the continued escalation of the conflict on the Cambodian-Thai border, while clearly emphasizing its expectation that both countries strictly adhere to existing peace agreements, effectively protect civilian safety, and jointly maintain regional stability.
