Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The UNHCR 75th Anniversary Charity Night, co-hosted by UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador and Olympic champion Yang Yang and the UNHCR China Office, was held in Shanghai on the evening of the 7th, aiming to allow all sectors of society to witness the power of resilience and solidarity.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) was established on December 14, 1950. As a non-political humanitarian agency, the UNHCR is authorized by the United Nations to protect refugees and help them find ways to escape their predicaments. Since its establishment, the UNHCR has continuously promoted cooperation among governments and international organizations to create favorable conditions for protecting human rights and peacefully resolving disputes, in order to reduce forced displacement. Currently, the UNHCR provides emergency assistance and long-term solutions globally for asylum seekers, refugees, internally displaced persons, stateless persons, and returnees.

In her speech, UNHCR Representative in China, Sophie Muller, specifically mentioned the deep cooperation with China. She stated that for most of the past 75 years, the UNHCR has worked hand in hand with China to bring hope to those forced to flee their homes. Today, China is a crucial partner in the global refugee protection and solutions process. This support stems from strong government backing, resource and technology sharing from enterprises, and, most importantly, from the generosity and empathy of the Chinese people.

Yang Yang stated that the UNHCR's 75 years of dedication are inseparable from the faith and assistance of countless people around the world. Everyone present tonight embodies the spirit of cross-border support and mutual assistance from China, conveying the warm power of humanitarianism.

That evening, world champion Chen Lu, along with professional figure skaters An Xiangyi, Li Xuantong, and Li Xinqi, joined singer Huang Ying, musician Ma Yue, young singers Ma Yinyin and Ping An, and the Shanghai Theatre Academy Ballet Company in a joint performance. The ice show focused on the theme of "resilience," conveying the unwavering determination of people to rebuild their lives even in dire circumstances, supported by humanitarian care and international solidarity.

The organizers stated that they hoped this event would pay tribute to people around the world who have been forced to flee their homes but remain resilient, and also honor the individuals, partners, and countries that provide shelter for displaced persons and support their search for solutions.
