Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On December 3, South Korean Vice Foreign Minister Chung Eui-hye called on ASEAN to support South Korea's efforts to restart dialogue with North Korea.
According to a report from the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) in Seoul, citing the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chung made this appeal at a meeting with ambassadors from the 11 ASEAN member states currently serving in Seoul.
Chung thanked ASEAN leaders for their support at the ASEAN Summit in October for President Lee Jae-myung's END (Exchange, Normalization and Denuclearization) initiative, aimed at ending hostilities and promoting peace with North Korea. The END initiative is the main policy direction towards North Korea outlined by the Lee Jae-myung administration in its speech to the UN General Assembly in September.
According to the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chung emphasized that South Korea is working to further strengthen its comprehensive strategic partnership with ASEAN, including expanding people-to-people exchanges and strengthening cooperation in trade and security. (End)
