Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – According to a press release issued by the UK Home Office on the 20th, the UK launched its biggest immigration reform in 50 years. Illegal immigrants and those relying on social welfare will have to wait 20 to 30 years to obtain permanent residency, making it the “strictest” immigration policy in Europe.

The press release stated that the reform applies to nearly 2 million immigrants who have arrived in the UK since 2021, but does not affect those who have already obtained permanent residency and are living in the UK.

According to the press release, low-wage workers will face a baseline waiting period of 15 years. Immigrants relying on government welfare will have to wait 20 years, four times the current requirement, setting a new record in Europe. Furthermore, the waiting period for illegal immigrants and those overstaying their visas can be as long as 30 years.

The press release stated that under the current system, immigrants can usually obtain permanent residency in the UK after living there for five years under certain conditions. This policy covers immigrant groups entering through economic visas, family visas, and humanitarian visas.
