Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The U.S. State Department stated that it has revoked 36,000 nonimmigrant visas to date for “criminal activity” by 2025. The Trump administration is cracking down on foreign citizens holding U.S. entry permits who commit crimes.

In newly released statistics from the State Department, the Trump administration announced that 16,000 visas were revoked for drunk driving or driving under the influence of drugs (DUI), 12,000 for assault, and another 8,000 for theft.

On November 6, the State Department posted on the social media platform X: “The promise has been made, and the promise has been kept.” The post also stated that President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio “will always put the safety and interests of the American people first.”

This is the latest round of measures by the Trump administration to crack down on foreign citizens who break the law.

In August, the State Department confirmed the revocation of over 6,000 student visas for overstaying and illegal activities, the vast majority involving assault, drunk driving, burglary, and support for terrorism. The State Department also stated that approximately 4,000 of these visas were revoked for illegal activities, and another 200 to 300 were revoked on terrorism-related grounds, all based on the terrorism provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

In an email to Voice of America in August, the State Department stated, “The State Department revokes visas whenever any indication is found that may not meet the visa requirements. These indications include overstaying, criminal activity, threats to public safety, involvement in any form of terrorist activity, or support for terrorist organizations.”

The State Department also stated at the time, “Under the Trump administration, every student visa revoked has been because the individual violated the law or expressed support for terrorism while in the United States.”

The U.S. government also stated that its “continuous review” mechanism covers more than 55 million foreign nationals currently holding valid U.S. visas. The Trump administration has stated that identifying and preventing entry into the United States by individuals who pose a threat to national or public safety is crucial to protecting Americans on American soil.

The news of the visa revocations comes as the Trump administration announces a record number of deportations of undocumented immigrants. The Department of Homeland Security announced on October 27 that more than 527,000 undocumented immigrants have been deported since the Trump administration took office in January.

Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement, “The Trump administration is moving at a record pace and will deport nearly 600,000 undocumented immigrants by the end of President Donald Trump’s first year back in the White House.”

The administration also noted that more than 2 million undocumented immigrants have left the United States, of whom 1.6 million left voluntarily.
