Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Cornell University announced on the 7th that it has reached a settlement with the Trump administration and will immediately resume receiving federal funding.
According to the settlement agreement, Cornell University expects to pay the Trump administration $30 million over the next three years and invest an additional $30 million in research projects directly benefiting American farmers. In addition, Cornell University will conduct an annual "campus atmosphere survey" to ensure the safety of Jewish students and address "anti-Semitism." The university also agreed to provide the Trump administration with "anonymized undergraduate admissions data" for a full audit.
The agreement states that Cornell University will immediately resume receiving federal funding, and investigations against the university under Titles VI and IX of the Civil Rights Act will be immediately terminated. The president of Cornell University must provide quarterly certification that the university is fully complying with all the terms of the agreement.
CNN reported that this is the latest development in the ongoing struggle between the Trump administration and American universities over campus oversight, federal funding, and academic freedom. Previously, Columbia University and others had announced settlement agreements with the Trump administration, while MIT and others explicitly rejected the "sign an agreement in exchange for funding" proposal.
Since President Trump returned to the White House in January, the Trump administration has threatened to investigate dozens of universities and cut or cut off their federal funding, citing "anti-Semitism" allegations. During this process, Cornell University experienced a temporary suspension of over $250 million in federal research funding. (End)
