Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On November 3, 2025, Cambodian Minister of State and Secretary-General of the National Committee for Combating Cyber Fraud, Chhay Sinharith, met with South Korean Ambassador to Cambodia, Park Jung-Wook. Both sides agreed to further deepen cooperation to jointly combat the increasingly rampant cyber fraud crimes.

Minister Chhay Sinharith first emphasized to Ambassador Park Jung-Wook Cambodia's commitment to comprehensive cooperation with South Korea in combating transnational crime. He pointed out that the current relationship between Cambodia and South Korea has been elevated to the level of a strategic partnership.

He recalled that the two countries' top leaders recently met during the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and agreed in principle to establish a joint special task force to strengthen cooperation in combating various transnational crimes, including cyber fraud.

When discussing Cambodia's efforts, Minister Chhay Sinharith emphasized the significant results achieved in the recent special operation against cyber fraud. However, he also pointed out that the eradication of cyber fraud cannot be completed in the short term, and therefore requires continued cooperation from all relevant agencies. He stated that under Prime Minister Hun Manet's leadership, the Royal Government of Cambodia has demonstrated a strong determination to thoroughly eradicate telecom fraud and will not allow criminals to use Cambodian territory as a base for fraud or to lure foreign citizens to Cambodia to engage in criminal activities.

Chay Sinharith stated that he is fully prepared to coordinate and cooperate effectively with this new joint working group.

In response, South Korean Ambassador Park Jung-wook expressed his sincere gratitude to the Cambodian government for its agreement in principle to establish the working group and looked forward to completing the detailed discussions in the near future. Ambassador Park believes that the establishment of this working group not only reflects the firm determination of both countries to combat transnational crime, especially telecom fraud, but also demonstrates that Cambodia and South Korea are close partners in combating these transnational crimes.

Ambassador Park also expressed his gratitude to Cambodia for previously repatriating South Korean citizens involved in fraud activities. He stated that the South Korean authorities will continue to conduct in-depth investigations into these individuals and will share the results with Cambodia.

Both sides spoke highly of the meeting and agreed that it would bring better and more efficient cooperation between the two countries in the present and future, enabling them to support each other, exchange information, conduct in-depth investigations and bring to light the masterminds behind these criminal organizations, and make positive contributions to maintaining regional and global peace and stability.
