Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) With the Spring Festival approaching, kumquats and flowers from Guangdong are being packed and boxed to deliver the unique flavor and auspicious meaning of the Lingnan New Year to households worldwide.

As two major production areas of kumquats and flowers in Guangdong, Shunde in Foshan and Liwan in Guangzhou, with their strong industrial foundation and abundant resources, have become important forces in the export of kumquats and flowers.

In the greenhouse of the Phalaenopsis orchid planting base in Chencun Town, Shunde, rows of delicate pink "Sweet Beauty" and vibrant "Golden Butterfly" orchids are arranged, interspersed with novel macaron-colored potted plants, extending to the end of the greenhouse. Workers are methodically carrying out pruning, loosening the soil, and packing for shipment, making final preparations for the New Year flowers to be sent to overseas markets.

Wu Jiehong, the person in charge of the base, introduced that the "Dragon Orchid" series of Phalaenopsis orchids cultivated at the base have large flowers, with a single plant able to bloom 16 to 20 flowers, and a flowering period of up to six months, which is very popular with overseas customers. Currently, the export of New Year's flowers has entered "Spring Festival travel rush mode." Foshan Customs, under Guangzhou Customs, is inspecting and supervising the export of over 40 batches of New Year's kumquats and flowers daily, totaling approximately 260,000 plants. Statistics show that from December 2025 to the end of January this year, Foshan Customs has cumulatively inspected and supervised the export of 16.114 million New Year's kumquats and flowers, with a value of 120 million yuan.

Guangzhou's Liwan District, Fangcun, is also experiencing its busiest New Year's flower export season. Wen Minqi, export manager of Guangzhou Jihong Horticulture Co., Ltd., stated that overseas consumers have increasingly higher requirements for floral arrangements, and high-end, versatile foliage materials such as Monstera deliciosa are gradually becoming popular, becoming a new export growth point. Since January this year, the company has exported 1.04 million New Year's flowers.

According to statistics, in January this year, Liwan Customs, under Guangzhou Customs, supervised the export of over 4 million New Year's flowers, including varieties such as lucky bamboo, anthuriums, and lucky palms, mainly exported to Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. (End)
