The number of passengers transported on the China-Laos Railway has exceeded 70 million.

  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – According to a March 31 report from China Railway Kunming Group Co., Ltd., the China-Laos Railway, since its opening on December 3, 2021, has transported over 70 million passengers, with 780,000 passengers from more than 120 countries and regions traveling on cross-border international trains.

  To date, the China-Laos Railway has operated over 3,100 international passenger trains. The number of cross-border passenger seats per train has increased from the initial 250 to 420, and the number of inbound and outbound passengers has increased from 300 per day initially to over 1,600 at its peak.

  Since the beginning of this year, the China-Laos Railway has transported a total of 5.9 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of 7.8%; among them, 110,000 were cross-border passengers, a year-on-year increase of 32.3%, indicating a year-on-year increasing trend in passenger travel demand.

  To meet passenger travel demand, the railway department has increased capacity and optimized train operation plans. Domestically, the average daily number of passenger trains increased from 8 at the beginning of the service to a maximum of 86, with a cumulative passenger volume exceeding 57.1 million. In Laos, the average daily number of passenger trains increased from 4 at the beginning to a maximum of 18, with regular passenger trains expanded to more than 10 carriages each, and a cumulative passenger volume exceeding 12.9 million.
