According to reports, the delegation's itinerary covered Davinópolis, Impella Tris, and surrounding areas. Davinópolis Mayor Ze Pecono stated that Vietnam is a strategic partner of the city and proposed signing a "sister city" agreement to promote business exchanges and talent training; the city is currently upgrading its land port into an international logistics service zone and hopes to deepen logistics cooperation with Vietnam. Bui Van Nghi responded that this visit demonstrates the two countries' determination to cooperate in areas such as high-tech agriculture and seaport logistics, and that Davinópolis's agricultural and seaport advantages are highly compatible with Vietnam's needs.
Regarding bilateral relations, Bui Van Nghi pointed out that mutual trust between Vietnam and Brazil has continuously improved since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1989, and was upgraded to a strategic partnership in 2024, with trade reaching US$7.76 billion in 2025. The commencement of negotiations on a preferential trade agreement between Mercosur and Vietnam has injected new momentum into cooperation.
This visit clarified several specific cooperation projects: the Maranhão State government allocated 20 million reais (approximately US$3.9 million) to construct a land port connecting road; the state's business community is promoting a "round-trip cargo" strategy, planning shoe factories and agricultural product processing projects; and both sides finalized four key projects: sustainable sweet potato aviation fuel production, expansion of the Maiti sugar-ethanol plant, development of gypsum and sisal fiber, and construction of a 250-hectare warehousing center.
