Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – China's National Energy Administration announced on the 12th that the newly installed capacity of wind and solar power in China exceeded 430 million kilowatts in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 22.0%, setting a new historical record.
In 2025, China's wind and solar power development achieved new successes. In addition to the record-breaking newly installed wind and solar capacity, the cumulative grid-connected capacity of wind and solar power reached 1.84 billion kilowatts, accounting for 47.3% of total power generation, historically surpassing thermal power. The "green content" of electricity consumption continued to increase. In 2025, national wind and solar power generation increased by 25% year-on-year, accounting for 22% of total power generation, effectively driving the proportion of renewable energy in total power generation to nearly 40%.
Since the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China's new energy development, represented by wind and solar power, has achieved unprecedented speed, with cumulative installed capacity reaching 3.4 times that of the end of 2020. Its contribution to the transformation of the economy has become increasingly prominent, with its share of electricity generation increasing by more than 12 percentage points cumulatively. China has accomplished all the targets and tasks of the 14th Five-Year Plan, achieving large-scale, high-proportion, and leapfrog development, laying a solid foundation for achieving carbon peaking by 2030 and the nationally determined contribution target by 2035.
