Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – China's National Energy Administration released its 2025 renewable energy grid connection and operation report on the 12th, indicating that China's installed renewable energy capacity has reached a new high, and renewable energy power generation continues to grow.

The installed capacity of renewable energy has reached a new high, with its share steadily increasing. Renewable energy accounts for over 60% of total installed capacity, with wind and solar power adding over 430 million kilowatts, bringing their cumulative installed capacity close to half, historically surpassing thermal power.

In 2025, the national newly installed renewable energy power generation capacity reached 452 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 21%, accounting for 83% of the national total newly installed power capacity. Among them, hydropower added 12.15 million kilowatts, wind power added 120 million kilowatts, solar power added 318 million kilowatts, and biomass power added 1.51 million kilowatts.

By the end of 2025, the total installed capacity of renewable energy in China reached 2.34 billion kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 24%, accounting for approximately 60% of the national total installed power capacity. Of these, hydropower capacity reached 450 million kilowatts, wind power capacity 640 million kilowatts, solar power capacity 1.2 billion kilowatts, and biomass power capacity 47 million kilowatts. Wind and solar power combined accounted for 1.84 billion kilowatts, or 47% of the total installed capacity.

Renewable energy generation continued to grow, accelerating green and low-carbon development. Nearly 4 out of every 10 kilowatt-hours of electricity consumed nationwide was green electricity, meaning all increases in electricity consumption were provided by newly generated renewable energy. In 2025, national renewable energy generation reached 3.99 trillion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 15%, accounting for approximately 38% of total power generation, exceeding the combined electricity consumption of the tertiary sector and urban and rural residents during the same period. In 2025, the national newly generated renewable energy capacity reached 519.3 billion kilowatt-hours, already covering the increase in total electricity consumption. (End)
