Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Vietnam's pepper exports continued their positive growth momentum in the last month of 2025, contributing to a record high total export value of US$1.66 billion for the year.
According to statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Seasoning Association (VPSA), in December 2025, Vietnam exported 22,400 tons of pepper, generating US$146 million in revenue, representing a month-on-month increase of over 20% and a year-on-year increase of approximately 45%. The United States remained the largest export market, accounting for 27.7% of exports that month, followed by the UAE, China, Thailand, and Germany.
For the entire year of 2025, Vietnam's total pepper exports reached 247,400 tons. Although the export volume decreased slightly by 1.2% compared to 2024, the export value still increased significantly by 26%. The United States imported 55,000 tons, accounting for 22.3% of total exports. Despite a nearly 24% decrease due to retaliatory tariffs, the United States remained the largest consumer market.
Hoang Thi Lien, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Pepper and Seasoning Association, stated that Vietnam continues to maintain its leading position in global pepper exports, but the industry is facing immense pressure from stringent standards regarding sustainable development, environmental protection, and pest and disease control.
Phan Minh Thong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Phuc Saen Group, believes that Vietnamese pepper has maintained its position in the international market amidst fierce competition. This achievement is attributed to a clear and firm strategic plan, as well as accurate and objective judgments of global market trends.
On the other hand, in 2025, Vietnam imported a total of 42,690 tons of pepper for processing and re-export, valued at US$266 million. Brazil was the largest supplier, accounting for 45.5% of the market share, followed by Cambodia and Indonesia.
Besides pepper, cinnamon exports also set a new record in 2025, reaching nearly 120,300 tons, valued at approximately US$300 million, representing a growth of over 20% in export volume. India is Vietnam's largest consumer market for cinnamon, accounting for nearly 38% of the market share. (End)
