Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – A recent trade report released by the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce shows that Cambodia's garment, footwear, and travel goods (GFT) exports performed strongly from January to November 2025, with a cumulative export value of US$14.21 billion. This represents a significant year-on-year increase of 16% compared to US$12.23 billion in the same period of 2024.

The report provides detailed statistics on the three core sectors of the GFT industry: Garment exports reached US$10.45 billion, a 17% increase from US$8.83 billion in the same period last year, continuing to dominate the industry; Footwear exports reached US$1.9 billion, a significant 26% increase from US$1.5 billion in the same period last year, ranking first in growth rate; and Travel goods exports reached US$1.85 billion, a steady 3.7% increase from US$1.78 billion in the same period last year.

Sun Messa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, commented that despite the current multiple pressures on the global economy, Cambodia's garment manufacturing industry has demonstrated strong resilience, maintained a stable production momentum, and new investment in the sector continues to increase.

He emphasized, “The garment manufacturing industry has always been a core engine for job creation in Cambodia. The continued rise in exports not only reflects the industry's competitiveness but also directly drives the overall economic development of the country.”

Data shows that the United States, the European Union, Canada, and Japan remain the main export destinations for Cambodian GFT products. Benefiting from Most Favored Nation (MFN) status under the International Trade Preference Scheme, in addition to GFT products, Cambodian-made solar panels, furniture, and bicycles are also exported in large quantities to major markets such as the United States.

As a pillar of Cambodia's national economy, the GFT industry accounted for 50% of the country's total exports in the first 11 months of 2025, making it the country's most important source of foreign exchange earnings.

According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, there are currently approximately 1,608 GFT-related factories throughout Cambodia, directly providing approximately 913,000 jobs. Notably, the industry is predominantly female, making a significant contribution to improving women's social status and ensuring people's well-being.
