Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – Since its official launch on November 5th at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, the smart customs clearance service has been operating smoothly for a full month. According to statistics from the Shanghai General Station of Immigration Inspection (Hongqiao Station), from November 5th to December 5th, the usage of the "Smart Fast Track" at Hongqiao International Airport steadily increased, serving nearly 30,000 inbound and outbound passengers.
As one of the 12 newly promoted ports of entry by the National Immigration Administration, Hongqiao International Airport's smart customs clearance service has won widespread praise from inbound and outbound passengers for its "efficiency, smoothness, and convenience." On the day of the launch, reporters visited the Hongqiao International Airport border inspection hall, where electronic screens above the inspection channels displayed the "Smart Fast Track" sign. After arriving at the channel, passengers looked directly at the entrance camera, adjusted their position as instructed, and verified their identity information before entering. They then verified their fingerprints, facial features, and other biometric information as prompted. Once verified, the customs clearance process was completed. Border inspection staff were also stationed beside the channel to provide guidance and assistance to passengers.
“The ‘face-scanning’ clearance experience was very smooth. From entering the channel to completing the clearance, I didn’t need to take out any documents, which was extremely convenient,” said Ms. Liu from Hong Kong. “Technology really makes our travel easier, and the guidance and assistance from the border inspection staff were also very meticulous and thoughtful,” praised Mr. Zhou from Taiwan.
It is understood that the “Smart Fast Track” is not only fully operational within the terminal building of Hongqiao International Airport, but has also been extended to the business jet base. According to statistics, Hongqiao International Airport currently has 24 “Smart Fast Tracks” in its terminal building, and the business jet base has 2, achieving full coverage of smart clearance at the port.
Xu Xinyu, captain of the third duty team at Hongqiao Border Inspection Station, explained, “We have ensured that passengers can smoothly and safely enjoy the convenience of ‘face-scanning’ clearance by optimizing on-site guidance, expanding service scenarios, and simplifying the registration process. Especially regarding the self-service channel registration method, we have provided a more flexible registration method. During off-peak hours, passengers can directly complete the inspection and registration simultaneously through the ‘integrated inspection and registration’ system at the manual inspection channel, or they can register at our duty command center, further improving clearance convenience.”
According to the border inspection authorities, mainland residents aged 14 and above holding valid Mainland Travel Permits for Hong Kong and Macao and multiple-entry, family visit, business, talent, or other types of visas to Hong Kong and Macao, as well as Hong Kong and Macao residents holding valid Mainland Travel Permits for Hong Kong and Macao Residents (including non-Chinese citizens), and Taiwan residents holding 5-year valid Mainland Travel Permits for Taiwan Residents, who agree to have their facial features and fingerprints collected for verification during entry and exit border inspection, can choose to use the “intelligent fast channel” at the entry and exit border inspection site for “face-scanning” clearance. Persons with limited or no civil capacity must be accompanied by their legal guardian when exiting or entering the country via the "Smart Fast Lane". (End)
