Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Data released by China's Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development on the 4th shows that 25,100 old urban residential communities were newly renovated nationwide in the first 10 months of this year.

By 2025, China planned to start renovations on 25,000 old urban residential communities, a plan already completed ahead of schedule. Regionally, 16 regions, including Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Jilin, Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Anhui, have completed their annual urban old residential community renovation plans in the first 10 months of this year.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development previously revealed that from 2019 to 2024, a total of 280,000 old residential communities were renovated nationwide, benefiting 48 million households and over 120 million people. A total of 360,000 kilometers of aging pipelines were upgraded, 3.87 million parking spaces were added, and 78,000 community service facilities, including elderly care and childcare facilities, were constructed.

The "Opinions on Continuing to Promote Urban Renewal Action," issued in May this year by the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council, lists "promoting the renovation and transformation of old urban residential areas" as one of its main tasks. Qin Haixiang, Vice Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, previously stated that the Ministry will continue to deepen this work on the basis of completing the "14th Five-Year Plan" tasks for the renovation of old urban residential areas, focusing on the renovation of aging pipelines within the communities to eliminate safety hazards. At the same time, it will continue to carry out the construction of complete communities, and build and improve community-based public service facilities for the elderly and children, such as elderly care and childcare, as well as municipal supporting facilities such as parking and charging stations, according to local conditions.
