Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The world's first deep-sea intelligent aquaculture vessel, "Zhanjiang Bay No. 1," was delivered and put into operation in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province on the 19th.
It is understood that as a "national strategic asset" in China's marine fisheries equipment, "Zhanjiang Bay No. 1" was independently developed by the Zhanjiang Bay Laboratory. It is 154 meters long and 44 meters wide, with an aquaculture water volume of 80,000 cubic meters. It is the world's first permeable, floating, dynamically positioned aquaculture vessel, capable of simultaneously raising multiple fish species. The vessel also features an intelligent system covering the entire chain from "environmental monitoring—precise feeding—disease early warning—harvesting and processing." Sensors collect parameters such as water temperature and dissolved oxygen in real time, and an AI visual recognition system quickly assesses the health status of the fish, laying a solid foundation for "mobile phone monitoring" and "unmanned fish farming."
Mai Kangsen, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of the Academic Committee of Zhanjiang Bay Laboratory, stated that the "Zhanjiang Bay No. 1," with its original design of "floating dynamic positioning + aquaculture on a ship," integrates an 80,000 cubic meter aquaculture water volume and an annual production capacity of 2,000 tons of high-quality fish. Furthermore, its core technologies, such as "unlimited navigation area design," "dynamic aquaculture mode," and "intelligent management system," provide "hardcore support" for China's transformation from a "major fishing nation" to a "strong fishing nation." Its delivery and commissioning not only fills the gap in high-end marine equipment in the South China Sea but also signifies a historic leap from "relying on the sea for a living" to "understanding and utilizing the sea" and "developing the sea intelligently," opening up a new trillion-yuan-level track for the "deep blue ranch."
It is reported that Zhanjiang, as a major maritime city, boasts a 1,556-kilometer coastline. The establishment of the "Zhanjiang Bay No. 1" in the waters off Zhanjiang marks a crucial step in Zhanjiang's development into a distinctive modern marine city. Furthermore, it will utilize globally leading aquaculture technology and equipment to explore new pathways for the sustainable development of deep-sea resources, contributing a "Chinese solution" to the world in the field of marine science and technology.
