Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The 2026 Beijing Publishing and Distribution Industry High-Quality Development Annual Conference concluded in Beijing on the 7th. The four-day conference attracted over 500 high-quality publishers, showcasing more than 80,000 publications across all categories, including textbooks, supplementary materials, humanities and social sciences, popular reading materials, children's books, and periodicals.

The conference's theme was "Integration Creates an Ecosystem, Publishing Takes on a New Look." Liu Kai, Executive Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Beijing United Publishing Company, stated that as the first industry exhibition of 2026, the conference showcased the innovative practices and achievements of the publishing industry since 2025 in promoting nationwide reading, integrating digital transformation, and empowering the industrial economy. The industry trends of segmented topic selection, scenario-based products, and extended services were prominently featured at this year's conference, reflecting the transformation of publishing units from mere content disseminators to knowledge service providers and cultural ecosystem builders.

Moving away from the extensive model, the conference emphasized precise positioning based on demographics, interests, and needs to achieve efficient matching between content supply and reader demand – a new trend conveyed by the conference. "Only topics and products that withstand the test of practice in terms of content quality, intellectual depth, and social value can truly respond to new industry trends," said Liu Yawen, President of Beijing Huajing Times Culture Media Co., Ltd. She explained that Huajing Times' *The Great River Flows: The Spiritual Stories of the Chinese Communists* uses a literary and storytelling approach to depict the spiritual origins of the Chinese Communist Party; *The Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese Revolution* incorporates a wealth of archival materials, systematically tracing important historical nodes and key events in the Chinese Communist Party's leadership of the Chinese revolution, guiding readers into the historical scene.

Targeting teenagers, Beijing United Tianchang Culture Communication Co., Ltd. launched *Animal Big Bang Volume 2*, focusing on fun science popularization of over 160 animals, using a "comic + interpretation" format to suit children's reading habits, with cumulative sales exceeding 30,000 sets.

In-depth exploration of interest groups makes the content more attractive. "Books give IP meaning, and readers express their attitudes by using and wearing IP-related products," said Wei Chunshou, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of United Reading Creation (Beijing) Culture Media Co., Ltd. In response to the booming trend of cultural and creative products, United Publishing Group launched a novel adapted from the TV series "Tales of the Tang Dynasty," leveraging the popularity of the film and television IP and adding exclusive plot details to meet the in-depth consumption needs of film and television enthusiasts.

Furthermore, with the deepening of the integration and development of publishing, publishing products are no longer limited to a single paper format, but are constantly innovating with scenario-based approaches, integrating reading and knowledge acquisition into diverse scenarios of learning, work, and life, making products more practical and experiential. At this annual meeting, several publishers transformed serious academic content and classic readings into portable pocketbooks, and digital products continued to upgrade, making in-depth reading accessible anytime, anywhere.

"Don't compare prices with e-commerce, compare value with experience," emphasized Zhao Xinwei, General Manager of Beijing United Tianchang Culture Communication Co., Ltd. He stressed the importance of a vertically integrated business model, emphasizing that not every bookstore needs to be "large and comprehensive." "Small and specialized" models such as pop-up stores and themed book exhibitions can attract a precise customer base. At the same time, by analyzing customers' reading habits and preferences, personalized recommendation services can be provided.

The 2026 Beijing Publishing and Distribution Industry High-Quality Development Annual Meeting was hosted by the Beijing Publishing Copyright Association and organized by Beijing United Publishing Company. (over)
