This event was hosted by the Zhangzhou Municipal Party Committee Propaganda Department and co-organized by 36 municipal departments, including the Zhangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the Zhangzhou Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology, and the Zhangzhou Municipal Health Commission. The event opened with a warm-up performance, "Zhangzhou Charm: Intangible Cultural Heritage, A New Beginning," followed by a variety of精彩 programs including the situational song and dance "Xiangcheng Awaits You," the dance "Cuoli Embroidery," the puppet show "The Legend of Hua Mulan," the dance "Dreaming Back to My Hometown," the song and dance "Zhangzhou Lang by the Sea," and the fast-paced storytelling performance "Blessings Fill Zhangzhou, Writing a New Chapter," offering the public a "cultural feast" right at their doorstep.
At the event, volunteer service teams organized by relevant units of Zhangzhou City and Xiangcheng District provided villagers with a range of services, including legal publicity, science and technology consultation, agricultural guidance, policy promotion, free calligraphy of Spring Festival couplets, and free medical consultations by experts, which were warmly welcomed by the local people. A variety of distinctive intangible cultural heritage techniques, such as woodblock New Year paintings, paper cutting, cotton painting, and Minnan shell carving, were showcased, attracting a large number of people to participate with their unique cultural heritage and rich interactive experiences. The scene was bustling with activity and filled with warmth.
Meanwhile, the event also brought funds, materials, and projects worth 3.75 million yuan, all of which will be used to support the construction and development of Punan Town and the advancement of livelihood projects. The Zhangzhou City "14th Five-Year Plan" Development Achievement Exhibition set up at the event comprehensively showcased the fruitful development achievements and effective improvement of people's livelihoods in Zhangzhou City during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period. After the launching ceremony, representatives from Zhangzhou City and Xiangcheng District also visited and extended their regards to representatives of families in need.
Punan Town is located in the northern part of Xiangcheng District, on the south bank of the North Branch of the Jiulong River. As an ancient town with a history of over a thousand years, it is one of the important birthplaces of Minnan culture. From ancient times to the present, Punan has nurtured a profound culture of Zhangzhou's development and a long-standing tradition of academies. The town boasts the national-level cultural relic site, the Tomb of Chen Yuanguang, as well as several provincial and municipal-level cultural relics sites, including Songzhou Academy and Aopu Guandi Temple. The historical sites of Chen Yuanguang, a pioneer of Zhangzhou's development, and his generals Xu Tianzheng and Lin Kongzhu, among others, remain here, forming a relatively complete cultural lineage.
