Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) On the afternoon of April 3, 2026, Le Hoai Trung, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Park Yoon Joo, First Vice Foreign Minister of the Republic of Korea, in Hanoi. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on deepening bilateral cooperation in various fields and responding to the regional and international situation, reaching broad consensus.
During the meeting, Minister Le Hoai Trung clearly stated that relations with South Korea are an important component of Vietnam's diplomatic policy. Vietnam has always attached great importance to bilateral cooperation and looks forward to South Korea's continued support in implementing the development goals set forth at the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He emphasized that the current international and regional situation is rapidly evolving and increasingly uncertain. Both sides should further improve the efficiency of cooperation, promote the steady development of bilateral trade in a balanced and sustainable direction, and create more favorable conditions for market access for goods from both countries.
Le Hoai Trung highly praised the positive contributions made by South Korean enterprises and economic organizations to Vietnam's socio-economic development, and put forward three expectations for cooperation: First, he hoped that South Korean enterprises would continue to expand their investment in Vietnam's priority development sectors; second, he hoped to strengthen cooperation in cutting-edge fields such as science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation, injecting strong momentum into Vietnam's high-quality socio-economic development; and third, he thanked the South Korean government for its strong support of the Vietnam-Korea Science and Technology Research Institute (VKIST) project, and suggested that South Korea continue to improve relevant policies to provide stronger vocational guidance and employment support for Vietnamese workers returning home after their contracts expire.
South Korean First Vice Foreign Minister Park Yoon-joo responded that South Korea and Vietnam have built a close partnership of mutual trust and win-win cooperation in many fields. He reiterated that South Korea is willing to fully support Vietnam's socio-economic development goals, and hopes that the Vietnamese government will continue to pay attention to the development needs of South Korean enterprises in Vietnam, providing a stable and convenient development environment for South Korean enterprises to expand their investment scale and improve long-term operating efficiency.
Both sides agreed that the two foreign ministries will maintain close communication and coordination on international and regional issues of common concern, and work together to contribute positively to maintaining regional and global peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the face of a complex and volatile international situation.
It is also reported that, within the framework of the visit to Vietnam from April 2 to 3, 2026, First Vice Foreign Minister Pak Yun Chau held preliminary talks with Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu on the morning of April 3, laying a good foundation for this ministerial meeting.
