
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) On the morning of March 18, Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong met with the ambassadors of Cambodia, Saudi Arabia, and the Dominican Republic to Vietnam at the Presidential Palace, reiterating Vietnam's emphasis on developing friendly and cooperative relations with these countries and reaching a series of consensuses on deepening bilateral cooperation in various fields.
During his meeting with Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam Touch Pharat, Vo Van Thuong highly praised the significance of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam's state visit to Cambodia in February this year, emphasizing that Vietnam always prioritizes its traditional friendship and pragmatic cooperation with Cambodia. He proposed that both sides strengthen political mutual trust and high-level exchanges, deepen defense, security, and border cooperation, promote economic and trade alignment to achieve the goal of US$20 billion in bilateral trade as soon as possible, strengthen people-to-people and youth exchanges, and successfully hold activities to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Touch Pharat thanked Vietnam for its long-term support for Cambodia's national development and emphasized that both sides have always cooperated in regional and international affairs. During a meeting with Saudi Arabia's newly appointed Ambassador to Vietnam, Thamer Mohammed al-Gosaibi, Vo Van Thuong praised Saudi Arabia's important role in the Middle East, called for the early restoration of peace and stability in the region, and thanked Saudi Arabia for providing guarantees for the safety of Vietnamese citizens. Vo Van Thuong suggested that both sides upgrade bilateral relations to a strategic partnership, expand cooperation in areas such as defense industry and cybersecurity, leverage complementary economic advantages to promote trade in agricultural and aquatic products, and explore the establishment of a strategic crude oil reserve center in Vietnam targeting Southeast Asia. He also stated that Vietnam is willing to cooperate with Saudi Arabia to promote the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. Thamer Mohammed al-Gosaibi expressed his willingness to actively promote high-level exchanges and economic and trade cooperation, and support the development of Vietnam's halal industry.
In congratulating Jean-Francois Harvey, the first Dominican Republic Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam, on his new appointment, Vo Van Thuong pointed out that Vietnam values the Dominican Republic's position in Latin America and the Caribbean, and is willing to strengthen exchanges in areas such as trade, investment, and culture, improve the legal framework for cooperation, and deepen collaboration under multilateral mechanisms. Jean-Francois Harvey stated that the Dominican Republic's choice of Vietnam as the first Southeast Asian country to establish a embassy demonstrates its high regard for bilateral relations and its commitment to fully promoting cooperation between the two countries.
